Job Opportunity: Mortgage Sales Specialist

Job Summary

As a Mortgage Sales Specialist, you will be responsible for selling mortgage products, delivering top-notch customer service, and managing client relationships. Your role involves both proactive and reactive engagements to ensure business growth. While the position is based at our head office, you may also collaborate with other departments when necessary.

Success in this role requires achieving set sales targets, providing exceptional service, and ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory policies.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategies to meet mortgage sales targets.
  • Identify and engage potential clients through referrals, partnerships, and marketing initiatives.
  • Assess customer needs and recommend suitable mortgage products.
  • Guide clients through the application process, including eligibility criteria and required documentation.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers by addressing inquiries, providing updates, and ensuring a seamless experience.

Portfolio Management & Risk Control

  • Monitor the performance of mortgage accounts to maintain a healthy portfolio.
  • Conduct periodic reviews to identify cross-selling opportunities and refinancing needs.
  • Work closely with the Collections team to manage delinquent accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal policies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory updates.

Collaboration & Business Development

  • Work with marketing teams to develop promotional campaigns for mortgage products.
  • Provide training to sales teams and other departments on mortgage offerings.
  • Coordinate with the Bancassurance team to ensure property insurance renewals.
  • Liaise with property valuers to assess mortgage assets and maintain compliance with industry standards.

Risk & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all regulatory and risk management frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with Absa’s policies and operational guidelines.
  • Report any incidents or risk concerns promptly and work towards continuous improvement.
  • Engage proactively with regulatory bodies and internal risk control units.

  • A higher certificate or advanced vocational qualification in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies is required.
