Kyela District Council is one among seven Districts in Mbeya region that was brought up in 1972 when it was got from Rungwe District portion. The District is was divided in two portions which are Unyakyusa and Ntebela in Mbeya District that has more than 33 ward and 99 villages. The District has more than 45 councilors with more than 33 councilors elected from chama cha Mapinduzi and Chadema democratic parties
The District works to ensure stability in education, health and education throughout working with different stakeholders and Non governmental Organisation to work on economic development, planning and administration including environment
