Standard Bank is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to fill the role of Team Leader, Rehabilitation. This position offers an opportunity to provide strategic and operational leadership within the Recoveries and Rehabilitation unit. You will lead a team of Collections Officers in restoring arrear accounts and preventing accounts from becoming Non-Performing Loans (NPL).

This role plays a key part in achieving departmental goals by executing effective in-house and legal collection strategies, maintaining vendor relations, and ensuring compliance with legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Manager, Recoveries & Rehabilitation in executing departmental strategies
- Lead and supervise a team of Collections Officers to normalize arrears and manage NPL risk
- Implement and optimize collection and recovery procedures
- Ensure compliance with legal frameworks in all recovery actions
- Liaise and coordinate with external vendors (Attorneys, Debt Collection Agencies, Auctioneers, etc.)
- Monitor and manage operational costs, vendor outputs, and recovery outcomes
- Drive legal recovery efforts in alignment with Standard Bank’s policies
Qualifications
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Legal, or Office Administration
Experience Requirements:
Operations Control – 3 to 4 Years
- Experience with credit risk assessment for secured and unsecured products
- Operational oversight of external vendors and service contracts
Legal Collections – 3 to 4 Years
- Experience in legal collections within the banking or financial services industry
- Ability to lead a recovery team effectively and resolve high-risk arrears
- Familiarity with legal and compliance frameworks governing collections
