Position Overview:
Wassha Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to support the procurement of locally sourced goods and services across all operational regions in Tanzania. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely, cost-effective purchases that meet quality standards. This role excludes international procurement of core business assets (such as panels, lanterns, and torches).
The Procurement Officer will play a key role in building and maintaining strong vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, and supporting the overall efficiency of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Compliance
- Assist in the development and execution of procurement plans and strategies.
- Ensure procurement activities align with WASSHA’s procurement policies and Tanzanian regulations.
- Guide regional procurement processes to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
- Maintain transparency and accountability in all procurement operations.
Procurement Execution
- Source and purchase approved goods and services from local vendors.
- Coordinate timely processing and payment of supplier invoices.
- Prepare, review, and process purchase/service contracts and documentation.
- Track and meet internal customers’ needs within the agreed timelines.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and generate reports including spend analysis and supplier evaluations.
- Ensure products and services meet required quality standards.
Vendor Management
- Build and manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to ensure best value.
- Maintain an up-to-date supplier database.
- Evaluate supplier performance and manage procurement-related risks.
Reporting & Administration
- Track procurement plan progress and update regularly.
- Compile and present reports on purchasing activities.
- Coordinate with internal teams such as accounting, requesting departments, and management to ensure smooth workflow.
Other Duties
- Carry out additional tasks assigned by the supervisor as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant working experience in a reputable organization.

- Solid understanding of procurement and supply chain practices.
- Familiarity with Tanzanian procurement laws and local sourcing procedures.
