AUMS Geofields Tanzania, a leader in mechanized hard rock underground mining, is currently seeking an Underground Shift Supervisor to join our team at Geita Gold Mine. Position: Underground Shift Supervisor
- Location: Geita Gold Mine, Geita
- Employment Type: Full-Time
Role Overview
As an Underground Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in coordinating daily underground mining operations. Your responsibilities will include optimizing resources, machinery, and personnel to meet production targets while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards. Reporting directly to the Underground Manager and Project Manager, you will oversee mining operations and address safety concerns promptly.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and efficient underground mining operations.
- Develop and implement daily production plans in alignment with mine objectives.
- Supervise and manage underground working areas in compliance with regulations.
- Oversee employees, subcontractors, and visitors to ensure workplace safety.
- Conduct daily toolbox meetings and work planning discussions.
- Provide guidance to crews regarding rosters, schedules, and daily tasks.
- Ensure proper onboarding and induction of new staff as per AUMS and client standards.
- Report and document any safety incidents or accidents to the Site Project Manager.
- Oversee the training and development of shift personnel.
- Coordinate with on-site contractors to ensure work is performed according to AUMS standards.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in mechanized hard rock underground mining.
- Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role within mechanized mining.
- Must possess a valid Underground Shift Supervisor Certification.
- Completed management or leadership development training.
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s License with strong driving skills.
- Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Sound knowledge of drilling, blasting, and mining techniques.
- Strong understanding of mining equipment, human resource management, and productivity.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to liaise effectively with employees and managers.
- Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement safety measures.
- Proficiency in mine planning, statutory regulations, and industry best practices.
