About the Role

We are looking for a Treasury Middle Office Analyst to support financial reporting, risk control, and compliance frameworks. In this role, you will ensure our product control infrastructure meets industry best practices while adhering to IAS 39 / IFRS 9 accounting standards. You will play a vital role in monitoring risks, reporting financial data, and ensuring treasury operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting & Compliance (25%)

• Ensure treasury and corporate investment banking (CIB) market reporting aligns with accounting policies (IAS 39 / IFRS 9).
• Monitor and maintain compliance with Absa’s internal policies and regulatory standards.
• Manage TRC/MRCC reporting and maintain meeting records.
• Provide management information (MI) reports to support global markets activities.

2. Risk Control & Governance (30%)

• Implement a robust risk control framework for treasury and global markets.
• Identify, assess, and monitor market risks, ensuring they are well-managed.
• Report on risks, financial results, and market activity insights to key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with regulatory bodies and internal teams to ensure compliance.
• Proactively identify areas for improvement in risk management processes.

3. Product Control & Middle Office Operations (30%)

• Oversee daily P&L reconciliation for global markets and treasury operations.
• Manage Front Office vs. Back Office (FOBO) and Back Office vs. Back Office (BOBO) reconciliations.
• Standardize and enhance middle-office procedures to optimize operations.
• Ensure accurate pricing, market valuation adjustments (MVA), and rate reasonability policies.

4. Personal & Team Development (15%)

• Train and mentor middle-office team members to enhance their technical and analytical skills.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Stay updated on global banking trends and risk management best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Professional Certifications

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
✔ Professional certifications such as ACI, CPA (added advantage).

Experience & Technical Knowledge

✔ At least 3 years of experience in Treasury, Risk, or Accounting functions.
✔ Strong knowledge of global markets, treasury products (FX, MM, Derivatives, Fixed Income).
✔ Familiarity with market risk methodologies, finance systems, and IFRS standards.
✔ Experience working in a multinational banking environment (preferred).

Key Competencies

✔ Analytical skills – Ability to interpret financial data and market trends.
✔ Risk Management – Understanding of risk assessment frameworks and tools.
✔ Problem-Solving – Ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
✔ Strong Communication – Ability to present financial information clearly.
✔ Technical Proficiency – Skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
✔ Project Management – Experience in leading financial or operational projects.
