About Swisscontact

Swisscontact is a Swiss non-profit organization committed to reducing poverty by enhancing vocational skills and employment opportunities. The Skills for Employment Tanzania (SET) project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and aims to improve vocational training systems, enhance youth employment, and empower women and young mothers.


Job Summary

Swisscontact is seeking a Vocational Skills Training Development Coordinator to lead the revision and development of vocational training programs, conduct Labour Market Analysis (LMA) studies, and support capacity building for public and private sector stakeholders.

This role will work closely with government authorities, training institutions, and industry partners to ensure training programs are relevant, inclusive, and high-quality.


Key Responsibilities & Tasks

1. Vocational Skills Program Development (50%)

✅ Organize and support the revision and development of non-formal vocational training programs.
✅ Ensure curricula, training materials, and assessments align with national standards.
✅ Work with stakeholders to conduct job analysis and skills training needs assessments.
✅ Integrate emerging technologies and industry best practices into training content.
✅ Facilitate the dissemination and implementation of training programs.

2. Labour Market Analysis (40%)

✅ Organize and support LMA studies focusing on youth employment needs.
✅ Identify skills gaps and emerging job opportunities for youth.
✅ Train stakeholders on conducting LMA studies and analyzing data.
✅ Develop and maintain a knowledge hub for non-formal Vocational Skills Development (VSD).

3. Additional Responsibilities (10%)

✅ Work closely with youth training coordinators to integrate findings into SET projects.
✅ Provide inputs for government and donor reporting.
✅ Ensure Gender Equality, Social Inclusion (GESI), and climate change considerations are included in training and analysis.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education, Economics, Project Management, or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • 5+ years in vocational training development, preferably in non-formal skills training.
  • Experience in Labour Market Analysis (LMA) and training program development.
  • Strong background in capacity building for government and private sector stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in implementing complex projects with public-private partnerships.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong research, writing, and reporting skills in English & Swahili.
  • Structured mindset with attention to detail & quality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience integrating gender equality and climate change themes into projects.

Workplace & Travel

📍 Base Location: Morogoro, Tanzania
🚗 Travel: Regular visits to other locations across Tanzania.
