About the Role
The Building Rights for Improved Girls’ Health in Tanzania (BRIGHT) Project is a seven-year initiative focused on enhancing the health, well-being, and rights of adolescent girls in Tanzania. This project is a collaboration between Nutrition International (NI), the Government of Tanzania, Engender Health (EH), and the Young and Alive Initiative (YAI).
Funded by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada (GAC), BRIGHT is currently at its midway point. We are seeking a Technical Advisor (Nutrition) to provide expert guidance and ensure the quality implementation of nutrition-focused activities within the project.
The Technical Advisor (Nutrition) will report to the Practice Area Director, Maternal and Neonatal Health and Nutrition (MNHN), based in Canada. They will also work closely with NI’s BRIGHT Project Director, Senior Technical Advisors, Regional and Country-Level Nutrition Experts, and Gender & Equality Advisors.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Technical Guidance & Support
- Provide gender-sensitive nutrition expertise to strengthen NI-led initiatives.
- Oversee the technical input and support provided by NI experts and external consultants.
- Ensure the effective implementation of NI’s nutrition and health strategies as per BRIGHT’s work plans.
✔ Program Implementation & Monitoring
- Support the monitoring and evaluation of adolescent and maternal nutrition programs.
- Collaborate with teams to ensure effective program execution in the field.
- Provide technical assistance for research and data collection efforts.
✔ Knowledge Management & Research
- Develop and maintain research and technical coordination plans.
- Organize regular project meetings, documenting key decisions and insights.
- Contribute to the creation of knowledge-sharing materials, including policy briefs, research summaries, blogs, and case studies.
✔ Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Conduct technical reviews of knowledge products produced by the BRIGHT Project.
- Ensure all program activities align with best practices in nutrition and health.
About You
✅ Education & Experience
- Postgraduate degree (Master’s/Doctorate) in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in adolescent and maternal health and nutrition programs in low- and middle-income countries.
- At least 2 years of field experience in program implementation.
- Strong understanding of health systems and gender equity in nutrition and public health.
- Experience in conducting or managing research is a plus.
