About the Role
As the Teaching and Learning Lead, you will be part of the Senior Leadership Team and work closely with government institutions such as MOEST, PO-RALG, TIE, ADEM, and NECTA. Your mission will be to:
✔ Develop and implement strategies to improve teaching quality in literacy, numeracy, and English.
✔ Influence educational policies to create lasting improvements in classroom instruction.
✔ Lead technical assistance efforts, ensuring the government adopts sustainable, scalable interventions.
✔ Collaborate with regional teams, monitoring progress and gathering key insights.
✔ Ensure data-driven decision-making, working closely with the Monitoring & Evaluation team.
This is a high-impact role requiring technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to support the Shule Bora programme’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
✔ Design teaching and learning strategies and oversee roadmap implementation.
✔ Provide expert guidance on effective pedagogy, teacher training, and instructional leadership.
✔ Engage with key government and institutional stakeholders to advocate for education system reforms.
✔ Support schools and local governments in adopting evidence-based teaching approaches.
Project Management & Coordination
✔ Ensure seamless collaboration across government institutions, NGOs, and education partners.
✔ Align Shule Bora’s strategies with national education priorities and funding mechanisms.
✔ Work closely with regional teams to ensure on-the-ground implementation of teaching strategies.
✔ Lead the design, monitoring, and evaluation of education programs.
Training & Capacity Building
✔ Support the professional development of government education officers and school leaders.
✔ Provide training for regional education teams to enhance instructional quality.
✔ Drive a culture of continuous learning and adaptation within the education system.
Monitoring & Learning
✔ Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation team to track program effectiveness.
✔ Use data-driven insights to refine teaching approaches and enhance learning outcomes.
✔ Document and share best practices and success stories for national education stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For
🔹 Education & Expertise
✔ Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Education or a related field.
✔ Strong understanding of the Tanzanian education system.
✔ Expertise in teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and teacher training.
🔹 Experience & Leadership
✔ Proven track record in education system strengthening.
✔ Experience leading large-scale education programs.
✔ Ability to influence government policies through strategic engagement.
🔹 Skills & Competencies
✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
✔ Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at different levels of the education system.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint).
✔ Excellent communication and leadership skills.
✔ Fluency in English (Kiswahili proficiency is an added advantage).

The Shule Bora Programme is a UK Aid-funded initiative aimed at enhancing the quality, inclusiveness, and safety of education for Tanzanian children. The programme focuses on:
✔ Improving Teaching & Learning – Strengthening Tanzania’s primary education system with a focus on foundational literacy, numeracy, and English.
✔ Enhancing Inclusion – Creating safe and inclusive school environments for all children, particularly girls and students with disabilities.
✔ System Strengthening – Supporting the government in policy reforms, institutional capacity building, and data-driven decision-making.
