Job Title: Systems Administrator

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth IT operations within the head office and branch locations, in line with the IT department’s policies. Your role will involve overseeing system performance, monitoring operations, and managing the installation and configuration of new software and hardware. You’ll also handle escalated tickets, system or software administration, network infrastructure maintenance, hardware upkeep, and setting up new systems. This position plays a vital role in ensuring business operations remain uninterrupted.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • IT Support & System Administration: Provide IT support and manage the systems environment.
  • System Management: Administer and maintain Watu systems and applications.
  • Documentation & Training: Maintain system change logs and provide user training.
  • Backup & Recovery: Ensure systems backup and retention procedures are followed, including testing and reporting.
  • High Availability: Ensure system uptime, avoiding potential downtimes.
  • System Installation & Upgrades: Complete installations, system upgrades, and perform regular assessments to ensure systems meet business needs.
  • Technical Support: Offer maintenance for company IT equipment, such as printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Call Center System Support: Provide support for the local call center system, ensuring proper integration and troubleshooting.
  • ICT Policies: Develop and adjust ICT policies and procedures across the company and departments.
  • Network Infrastructure: Participate in the development and maintenance of network infrastructure and endpoint security.
  • System Audits & Assessments: Regularly review hardware/software inventories and evaluate user and department needs.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with the business team on system-related projects, including budgeting, task delegation, progress tracking, and reporting.
  • Tool & System Implementation: Investigate and implement new tools and systems based on department needs.
  • Incident Management: Oversee incident reporting and resolution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the IT Manager, departments, and third-party vendors to meet project objectives.
  • Reporting & Planning: Prepare internal reports and plan for IT resource allocation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Response Time: Achieve 100% ticket and incident response within the SLA average.
  • Resolution Rate: Resolve 90% of system, account, and administrative support tickets within the onboarding SLA average.
  • Backup Success: Maintain a 100% success rate for system backups to ensure data protection and restoration.
  • Project Management: Lead, monitor, and achieve project deliverables in line with the agreed timelines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of IT experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a system or IT Administrator role.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in managing call center solutions.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in hardware maintenance, troubleshooting technical issues, and MS products.
  • Experience with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network protocols.
  • Proficiency with network cabling and hardware assembly/connection.
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Drive), MS Server, Active Directory, and cloud platforms (GPC, AWS, Azure).
  • Experience with data security practices and standards.
  • Experience with project management tools like Jira, GitLab, and Spiceworks is a plus.
  • Experience with virtualization tools such as VMware, Hyper-V, and familiarity with Data Studio is an advantage.
