Key Responsibilities
As a Survey Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate surveying and mapping of underground mining activities while maintaining the highest safety standards. Your key duties will include:
Safety & Compliance
- Adhering to all safety policies, attending mandatory safety training, and using appropriate PPE.
- Reporting incidents and accidents and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Environmental Policies.
Surveying & Data Collection
- Operating and maintaining survey equipment with proficiency in Survey/CAD software.
- Conducting survey station installations, grade pin installations, and laser setups in underground environments.
- Recording fired rounds to track development trends in mining operations.
- Performing face mark-ups for development drives and assisting with hole mark-ups (electric, paste, drain holes).
Technical Expertise & Reporting
- Setting up RTK/DGPS Base Systems and ensuring accurate survey station positioning.
- Compiling and maintaining survey data for easy retrieval and analysis.
- Filing mine stakeout plans and survey reports correctly.
- Conducting regular stock checks of survey consumables to maintain required inventory levels.
Equipment & Maintenance
- Conducting daily vehicle inspections, cleaning, and reporting defects to the maintenance team.
- Ensuring survey tools and equipment are well-maintained and properly stored.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Diploma, Certificate, or Degree in Mining Survey, Land Surveying, or Geomatics Engineering from a recognized institution.
Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and work ethics.
- Knowledge of RTK/DGPS Base Setup Systems and surveying software.
- Physical fitness to work in underground mining environments.
- Valid Tanzanian driver’s license with experience driving light vehicles in underground environments.
Experience
- At least two years of experience in underground mining surveying (preferred).
