About the Role
As a Supply Chain Officer (SCO) at Nutrition International Tanzania, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of Vitamin A capsules (VAC) across the country. Working closely with government health management teams, health providers, and key stakeholders, you will help streamline supply chain processes and improve nutrition programs nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, forecasting, and quantification of Vitamin A capsule supply chain activities to ensure smooth implementation.
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Health (MoH) teams to develop cost-effective logistics plans for the importation, storage, and distribution of Vitamin A capsules.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or wastage, ensuring efficient distribution to health facilities.
- Provide technical support and training to local health authorities and supply chain stakeholders on best practices for Vitamin A supply management.
- Assist implementing partners in developing budgets and work plans for NI-supported direct delivery of Vitamin A capsules.
- Work with HQ procurement teams to facilitate timely purchasing and shipment of Vitamin A capsules.
- Oversee clearance procedures with service providers to ensure shipments are cleared, stored, and transported according to regulatory standards.
- Develop contingency plans with government and stakeholders to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
- Ensure compliance with national regulations and policies related to health commodity distribution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, UN partners, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance coordination and program effectiveness.

What You Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you should have:
✅ Education & Training:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Pharmacy, Public Health, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
- Additional training in epidemiology, health commodities management, or research methodologies is desirable.
✅ Experience & Skills:
- At least 5 years of experience in health commodities supply chain management, public health, or health systems strengthening in Tanzania or internationally.
- Strong background in program implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of Tanzania’s health system and health commodity distribution processes.
- Excellent report writing skills and proficiency in data management.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Effective communication and presentation abilities in both spoken and written English.
