Network Administrator Job Description

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Network Administrator to manage and optimize our network infrastructure, ensuring seamless performance and security. This role involves monitoring network operations, troubleshooting issues, and implementing improvements to maintain efficiency and reliability.

POSITION: Specialist: ICT Networks

Location: Dar es Salaam

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and resolve critical network incidents promptly.
• Analyze network infrastructure and contribute to its design, integration, and enhancement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Configure and maintain routers, switches, and other networking hardware.
• Serve as a technical liaison with vendors, ensuring issue resolution within service level agreements (SLAs).
• Participate in IT infrastructure projects and perform additional duties as assigned.
• Ensure proper case management and provide necessary training to support teams.
• Develop comprehensive documentation and knowledge bases for troubleshooting and remediation.
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving, conceptual, and analytical skills while working effectively as part of a team.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network performance and connectivity issues.
• Monitor network devices to identify and address potential issues before they cause downtime.
• Provide network resource access and support to users.
• Maintain and optimize the health and efficiency of end-user systems.
• Support remote ICT and branch teams to ensure smooth business operations.
• Administer and optimize LAN, WAN, business partner, and internet networks for secure and efficient performance.
• Utilize network monitoring tools to ensure high service quality and generate regular performance reports.
• Work with communication and network vendors to design infrastructure for new branches or buildings.
• Facilitate procurement and tracking of IT equipment, software, and licenses.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Systems Technology or a related field.
• Essential certifications:
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Cisco CCNA
  • Cisco CCNP
  • Certified WAN Professional (CWP)
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in network administration and infrastructure, preferably in a banking environment.
• Experience working with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of network security and compliance.
• Expertise in configuring and troubleshooting routers, firewalls, and switches.
• Ability to analyze, test, and evaluate network performance to ensure optimal functionality.
• Proficiency in network security, including architecture and configuration of Cisco routers, firewalls, and security tools.
