About the Role

As an SBC Specialist, you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and strengthening social and behavioural change strategies across MSI’s country programs. You will work closely with country teams to develop evidence-based approaches, monitor program effectiveness, and provide technical guidance for continuous improvement.

This role is crucial in supporting MSI’s 2030 strategy, ensuring our interventions are inclusive, gender-responsive, and effective in reaching vulnerable groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance for the design and implementation of SBC interventions.
  • Ensure SBC programming is evidence-based, inclusive, and aligned with best practices.
  • Support capacity strengthening through training and mentorship.
  • Work with the Evidence and Impact team to document and share key learnings.
  • Assist in integrating SBC approaches into donor proposals and fundraising initiatives.
  • Advocate for gender mainstreaming and social inclusion in project implementation.

Skills & Expertise:

  • Strong experience in designing and implementing SBC programs at the national, regional, or global level.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to translate research insights into practical programming approaches.
  • Experience in facilitating participatory training and workshops.
  • Deep understanding of gender equality and social inclusion principles.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Word to create impactful presentations.
  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task, problem-solve, and prioritize competing demands.

Experience Required:

  • Extensive technical expertise in SBC programming in the health sector, ideally in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).
  • Proven ability to evaluate existing SBC approaches and scale successful models.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams to align objectives.
  • Ability to present insights in high-level donor meetings and conferences.
  • Hands-on experience in mentoring and training local community partners.
  • Familiarity with social norms theories, formative research, and M&E methodologies.
  • Experience in user-centered design methodologies (e.g., HCD) is a plus.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Public Health, Communications, International Development, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant technical experience in SBC programming.

Job Details & Location

  • Location: London, UK (hybrid, 2 days per week in the office) OR any MSI country program.
  • Contract Type: Permanent.
  • Working Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week, Monday – Friday for UK-based candidates).
  • Salary: £40,000 – £51,000 per annum (for UK-based roles). Salaries for other locations will align with local MSI pay structures.
  • Benefits: Discretionary bonus + benefits.
