Role Overview: Shunting Fleet Manager
As a Shunting Fleet Manager, you will play a vital role in managing the movement of trucks within our operations. Your primary responsibilities will include coordinating with teams, ensuring efficient logistics processes, and implementing best practices to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish best practices for managing the transit team and optimizing shunting operations.
- Work closely with the clearing team to determine the number of bookings with ready permits within the next 24-48 hours.
- Coordinate with the warehouse team to manage truck arrivals for loading operations.
- Supervise warehouse staff to ensure proper use of the Shunting Operations Form for seamless tracking.
- Accurately input data from forms into the Shunting Operations Sheet on Smart Sheets.
- Implement automations to streamline operations, including opening and closing trips per shunt.
- Ensure timely preparation of Advance and Settlement Proposals for transporters.
- Track, collect, and upload Proof of Delivery (POD) documents, including container interchanges and movement sheets for each shunt.
- Allocate bookings to transporters to ensure timely movement of containers to the port.
- Organize transporters for empty container pickups from depots and delivery to warehouses for stuffing operations.
- Source trucks for local container transport from Dar es Salaam and Mombasa ports to the Mkuranga project site for Knauf.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges in real-time.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the Head of Operations within one hour for further guidance.
- Ensure loading confirmations are sent to transporters before work begins, and settlement proposals are processed within the same week.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.

Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent vocational experience in Transport/Logistics service support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.
- Excellent communication skills to ensure clear and transparent coordination.
- Strong management and leadership abilities to optimize resource utilization.
- Tech-savvy with the ability to navigate and operate online logistics management systems.
- Strong administrative skills to maintain accurate and efficient record-keeping.
