About the Role
C.Steinweg Bridge is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented SHERQ Manager to oversee Safety, Health, Environmental, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) operations. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with company policies, maintaining SHERQ documentation, and promoting a culture of workplace safety. Reporting directly to the General Manager and Managing Director, the SHERQ Manager will play a key role in risk management, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
SHERQ Compliance & Administration
- Collect, log, and distribute SHERQ-related information and communications.
- Maintain and update SHERQ policies, procedures, and compliance documents.
- Keep employee records, including ID details, H&S induction logs, job movements, training records, medical assessments, and incident reports.
- Ensure subcontractors and preferred suppliers meet SHERQ compliance requirements.
- Manage office and site-based SHERQ documentation and controlled files.
- Prepare and submit required reports and statistics, including near-miss reports and safety records.
- Ensure all SHERQ data is accurately captured and documented.
Safety & Risk Management
- Conduct health and safety inductions for employees.
- Provide materials for Toolbox Talks and attend sessions to promote safety awareness.
- Deliver on-the-job refresher training for H&S representatives and first aiders.
- Assist in incident investigations, taking photographs and ensuring detailed, accurate reporting.
- Maintain incident and claim records, ensuring timely updates.
- Compile near-miss reports and job observations for management review.
- Draft and review Written Safe Work Procedures.
- Ensure daily pre-shift SHERQ checklists are completed and reviewed.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Oversee injury on duty (IOD) administration, ensuring all claims and supporting documents are processed with Workman’s Compensation Assist (WCA) and service providers.
- Organize and coordinate emergency and fire drills, ensuring equipment is replaced when necessary.
- Maintain Disabling Incident Frequency Rate (DIFR) records, collecting monthly service provider and operations data.
- Conduct safety risk assessments and planned job observations to ensure compliance.
- Monitor machine checklists, inspections, and environmental surveys, ensuring follow-ups on recommendations.
- Assist in health and safety audits, tracking action points and ensuring completion.
- Promote good housekeeping practices, including waste segregation and safety compliance.
- Oversee PPE and first aid equipment inventory, distribution, and replenishment.
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure timely submission of incident reports by managers with complete documentation.
- Maintain safety signage records and update Safety 1st Boards as needed.
- Regularly review first aid and spill kits, ordering replacements when required.
- Prepare H&S presentations and take minutes during SHERQ meetings.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in SHERQ management, preferably in the freight or logistics industry.
- Strong understanding of NOSA CMB253N compliance.
- NOSA certification required.
- Training in NEBOSH, SAMTRAC, Incident Investigation, and HIRA.
- Experience with ISO 9001:2015 is an advantage.
