Senior Relationship Manager – Fund Management

About the Role
NMB Bank is looking for a Senior Relationship Manager – Fund Management to manage and grow relationships with institutional clients, including both government and private organizations. This role focuses on securing and managing funds from donors, investors, and other stakeholders within and outside Tanzania. The successful candidate will be responsible for fund acquisition, relationship management, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Relationship Management & Business Growth
- Maintain and expand relationships with existing fund management clients by ensuring their banking needs are met efficiently.
- Engage donors, investors, and stakeholders to negotiate and secure funding opportunities.
- Prepare and submit fund management proposals (bids and expressions of interest) to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential clients, aggressively marketing fund management services and identifying cross-selling opportunities.
- Explore partnerships with other fund managers to offer NMB’s fund management capabilities.
- Gather necessary data to prepare fund management proposals and manage stakeholder expectations.
2. Fund Management & Operational Oversight
- Lead internal discussions on fund management strategies and initiatives.
- Develop and update frameworks and operating procedures for onboarding and managing funds in line with agreed terms.
- Ensure the accurate reporting of fund management activities as per contract requirements.
- Monitor and track income generated from fund management functions.
- Regularly review and update fund management manuals, processes, and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver tailored financial solutions based on client needs.
- Identify and drive sales opportunities across corporate banking, business banking, agribusiness, government, and retail banking sectors.
- Ensure high-quality service delivery by maintaining work standards and output targets.
- Guarantee full compliance with regulatory requirements, consumer protection policies, and banking procedures.
3. Customer Service & Efficiency
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for new institutional clients.
- Act as a liaison between clients, service teams, and back-office operations to ensure smooth transaction processing.
- Conduct regular client engagement to understand their financial needs and offer tailored solutions.
- Process and verify customer documentation for financial facilities.
- Analyze customer data to identify expansion opportunities.
- Develop and implement a structured client engagement plan to enhance relationships.
4. Risk & Compliance Management
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, including Know Your Customer (KYC) and self-assessments.
- Gather and assess credit application details to align with customer expectations.
- Proactively manage risks related to financial loss and fraud, adhering to bank policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Maintain high operational control standards while ensuring compliance with Risk Management and Compliance protocols.
- Work closely with Risk, Credit, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure portfolio alignment with bank policies.
- Oversee the Institutional Banking liability & loan book, ensuring it aligns with the bank’s risk appetite statement.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records for all client transactions.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Knowledge & Skills:
✔ Strong knowledge of general banking practices, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
✔ Understanding of industry sectors, risk profiles, and market trends.
✔ Ability to analyze competitor activities and identify opportunities for growth.
✔ In-depth expertise in Fund Management strategies and procedures.
✔ Excellent customer relationship management skills with a strong grasp of banking products and services.
✔ Analytical thinking – ability to identify trends, assess risks, and make data-driven decisions.
✔ Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
✔ Financial acumen – ability to interpret complex financial statements, balance sheets, and ratios.
✔ Negotiation and persuasion skills – ability to influence and drive successful outcomes.
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Educational & Professional Experience:
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Research, or a related field.
✔ Master’s degree in a relevant field is an added advantage.
✔ At least 5 years of experience in Fund Management, specifically handling Global Development Organizations and Donor-funded projects.
