Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to enforce access control measures and maintain a secure environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and assets. This role requires strong observational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively to security threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Access Control: Regulate entry and exit for employees, contractors, and guests, ensuring only authorized individuals access restricted areas.
  • Security Patrols: Conduct routine patrols at key points to deter unauthorized access and identify security breaches.
  • Incident Reporting: Identify and report suspicious activities, potential threats, and security violations promptly.
  • Risk Prevention: Prevent unauthorized entry, confront illegal activities, and enforce security policies to safeguard the premises.
  • Surveillance Monitoring: Operate and monitor security equipment, including cameras and alarm systems, to detect irregularities.
  • Property Inspection: Regularly inspect buildings, access points, and equipment to ensure they are secure and in proper working condition.
  • Policy Enforcement: Inform violators of security policies, procedures, and consequences, and take necessary action against trespassers.
  • Incident Documentation: Maintain accurate records of security incidents, observations, and witness interviews, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine checks on security equipment, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Team Contribution: Collaborate with colleagues and adhere to ethical and professional standards, including integrity, confidentiality, and objectivity.
  • Additional Duties: Execute any other tasks assigned by the Senior Security Officer or department head.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum Certificate of Secondary Education with recognized security training (military, police, prison service, militia, or private security).
  • Strong communication skills in both English and Swahili (verbal and written).
  • Leadership abilities with the capacity to make quick and effective decisions.
  • Problem-solving skills to assess and respond to security challenges.
  • Technical knowledge of security systems and surveillance equipment.
  • Teamwork mindset to collaborate effectively with security personnel and other departments.
