To strengthen our team, we are looking for a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of Director, Risk & Compliance. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the bank complies with all banking and financial regulations while effectively managing operational and financial risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and oversee the implementation of the bank’s risk management framework, including policies, procedures, guidelines, and manuals.
- Monitor market, economic, and financial trends, providing management with insights on minimizing risk exposure.
- Design and implement a system for identifying, monitoring, and mitigating risks in alignment with the bank’s risk strategy.
- Strengthen internal controls based on changes in strategy, organizational structure, risk mapping, operations, and regulatory requirements.
- Review risk management reports to address limit excesses, exceptions, and non-compliance issues promptly.
- Coordinate periodic policy and manual reviews to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk management.
- Regularly assess and report on the bank’s compliance at both departmental and staff levels, sharing findings with the Managing Director.
- Enforce and monitor adherence to internal and external operational procedures, processes, and guidelines.
- Oversee fraud and misconduct investigations, recommend corrective actions, and ensure implementation of remedial measures.
- Evaluate risks associated with new products, processes, and systems before rollout, providing guidance on minimizing exposure.
- Lead monthly management meetings and prepare quarterly risk and compliance reports for the Board.
- Act as the Reporting Officer for the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
- Conduct risk awareness and compliance training for employees and customers.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of five years of senior managerial experience in risk management and compliance within a financial institution.
- Strong understanding of the banking industry, including policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent presentation and reporting skills.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with various stakeholders.
