The Opportunity: Research Manager
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
MST is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Manager to lead research initiatives and program monitoring activities. This role is crucial in ensuring that our projects and services are backed by high-quality data and evidence-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research Strategy, Implementation, and Dissemination
- Lead the implementation of MSI global research protocols, including Exit Interviews and Mystery Client Surveys, ensuring compliance with standardized guidelines.
- Design and oversee project evaluations, reviewing consultancy work to ensure alignment with MST’s research standards.
2. Monitoring & Evaluation for Donor-Funded Projects
- Collaborate with the Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RME) team to support project managers in preparing quarterly and annual reports.
- Analyze Management Information System (MIS) data to assess the effectiveness of program activities at both facility and community levels.
3. Strengthening MST’s Management Information System
- Assist in developing a functional M&E-MIS system to gather, track, and analyze program data based on key performance indicators.
- Conduct data quality assurance at various levels, including service delivery points, to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Skills and Experience (Required)
- 4–5 years of hands-on experience in research, including study design, fieldwork oversight, statistical analysis, and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in SPSS, STATA, and Excel for data analysis, visualization, and presentation.
- Experience in reproductive health research and the use of routine health data.
- Ability to communicate complex research concepts in a clear and engaging manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong writing skills, capable of producing concise, visually engaging reports with charts and graphs.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili, with excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
Qualifications and Training (Required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, Mathematics, Public Health, or a related field with training in quantitative research methods.
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Research, Epidemiology, Statistics, International Development, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or a related field.
- Additional training in research design, impact evaluation, and research ethics is an added advantage.
