Position: Research and Innovation Specialist
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Research Development & Implementation
- Design and develop assessment tools for evaluating foundational literacy and numeracy among children aged 4–16.
- Translate and adapt research tools to align with study objectives.
- Conduct data collection training for field researchers and ensure quality data collection processes.
- Monitor and supervise data collection activities in the field.
🔹 Data Management & Analysis
- Conduct data analysis using SPSS, STATA, R, or NVIVO to generate research insights.
- Prepare research reports and field reports for stakeholders.
- Manage data collection tools, including mobile applications like Kobo Collect and Google Forms.
- Ensure proper setup of tablets and mobile applications for field data collection.
🔹 Project & Partnership Management
- Identify and assess funding opportunities for grant applications.
- Provide program guidance to partners, ensuring compliance with Uwezo Tanzania’s policies.
- Review and assess financial reports related to research projects.
- Perform other relevant tasks as assigned to support the organization’s research agenda.
Qualifications & Skills
✔ Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
✔ Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in research, monitoring & evaluation, training, and community engagement.
- Strong background in research proposal writing, data collection, and report writing.
- Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding principles.
✔ Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, database management).
- Hands-on experience with data collection tools (Kobo Collect, Google Forms) and statistical software (SPSS, STATA, NVIVO).
- Ability to analyze large datasets and generate insights for decision-making.
✔ Communication & Leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Strong leadership and facilitation skills to guide research teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
