Key Responsibilities:

Equipment Monitoring & Maintenance

  • Conduct regular monitoring of plant assets, including pumps, conveyors, crushers, and mills.
  • Utilize predictive maintenance tools like vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasound.
  • Diagnose issues such as misalignment, imbalance, bearing failures, and lubrication problems.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to enhance equipment reliability and minimize breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to schedule proactive repairs based on condition-based monitoring.
  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.

Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures to prevent recurrence.
  • Recommend design improvements based on failure analysis findings.
  • Work closely with engineers to enhance equipment performance and reliability.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Ensure all monitoring and maintenance activities adhere to safety regulations.

Training & Documentation

  • Train plant maintenance personnel on condition monitoring techniques and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Assist in developing condition monitoring procedures and best practices.
  • Prepare detailed reports on monitoring results, including charts, graphs, and diagnostics.
  • Support planners and execution teams in refining maintenance work instructions.
  • Maintain criticality assessments for the process plant.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability engineering in heavy industries (e.g., mining).
  • Certification in Vibration Analysis Level II or III (ISO 18436 or equivalent) is required.
  • Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification is preferred.
  • Machine lubrication engineering certification and NDT certification are advantageous.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and equipment alignment.
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and tools such as SKF, Emerson, or CSI technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills in English & Swahili.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
