Position Overview

🔹 Reporting to: Mechanical Engineer
🔹 Department: Maintenance & Reliability
🔹 Industry: Mining

Key Responsibilities

As a Reliability Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficiency and longevity of mining equipment through predictive maintenance strategies. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Equipment Monitoring & Condition Analysis

🔹 Conduct continuous and periodic monitoring of plant assets, including pumps, conveyors, crushers, and mills.
🔹 Use predictive maintenance tools such as vibration analysis, thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasound to assess equipment condition.
🔹 Diagnose faults like misalignment, imbalance, lubrication issues, and bearing failures using Microlog software and lubrication analysis.
🔹 Analyze sensor data and recommend solutions to enhance equipment reliability.

2. Maintenance & Reliability Improvement

🔹 Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance based on data analysis.
🔹 Develop and implement maintenance strategies to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
🔹 Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
🔹 Propose design changes and process improvements to enhance equipment performance.

3. Reporting & Compliance

🔹 Prepare detailed reports, charts, and graphs on equipment condition monitoring.
🔹 Present findings and recommendations to engineering, operations, and management teams.
🔹 Ensure all activities comply with safety policies, regulations, and industry standards.
🔹 Promote a safe working environment by identifying risks and implementing preventive measures.

4. Training & Team Collaboration

🔹 Provide training and support to maintenance personnel on predictive maintenance strategies.
🔹 Assist in developing condition monitoring procedures and standards.
🔹 Support planners and execution teams in optimizing preventive maintenance programs.
🔹 Identify and manage critical assets and implement defect elimination strategies.

Qualifications & Experience

✔ Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

✔ Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and reliability engineering in mining or heavy industry.

✔ Certifications (Highly Preferred):

• Vibration Analysis Level II or III (ISO 18436 or equivalent).
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP).
• Machine Lubrication Engineer Certification (advantageous).
• NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Certification (advantageous).
• Condition Monitoring Certification.

✔ Technical Skills & Knowledge:

• Strong expertise in vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and equipment alignment.
• Proficiency with RCM (Reliability-Centered Maintenance) and data analysis tools (SKF, Emerson, CSI).
• Excellent communication skills in English & Swahili.
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
