Role Overview

As a Project Officer (ARDHI), you will play a key role in implementing and managing project activities to enhance food security, resilience, and employment opportunities among targeted communities. You will work closely with local government authorities (LGAs), stakeholders, and project partners to ensure sustainable development and positive impact in the assigned regions.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Implementation & Coordination (50%)

  • Lead the effective execution and timely reporting of project interventions.
  • Collaborate with LGAs, partners, and stakeholders to influence policies and drive impact.
  • Monitor field activities and ensure progress aligns with program strategies and objectives.
  • Support vulnerable households and enhance social cohesion between refugees and host communities.
  • Promote gender equality, protection, and peacebuilding among project beneficiaries.

Expected Outcome:

  • Successful project execution aligned with goals and impact frameworks.
  • Inclusion of vulnerable households in development initiatives.

2. Budget & Resource Management (15%)

  • Assist in the annual and multi-year budgeting process in collaboration with finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and donor requirements.
  • Monitor budget utilization, track expenses, and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify opportunities for resource mobilization and partnerships with government and stakeholders.

Expected Outcome:

  • Efficient resource utilization and alignment with approved budgets.

3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning (MEAL) & Reporting (20%)

  • Work with the MEAL Officer to implement a data-driven impact measurement system.
  • Collect baseline and periodic data to track project performance and guide decision-making.
  • Prepare and submit high-quality progress reports on time.
  • Organize quarterly reflection meetings, workshops, and learning sessions with stakeholders.

  • Data-driven decision-making to enhance project impact.
  • Well-documented progress reports for accountability and learning.

4. Networking, Visibility & Donor Recognition (10%)

  • Foster strong relationships with partners, LGAs, and consortium members.
  • Ensure the project and its donors are well-recognized at different forums.
  • Represent World Vision in conferences, meetings, and community events.
  • Document and share best practices, challenges, and lessons learned.

Expected Outcome:

  • Strong partnerships and positive visibility of World Vision and its donors.

5. Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

  • Support additional tasks assigned by the employer as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in agriculture, rural development, or project management.
  • Experience with INGOs, EU, or UN agencies is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience working with rural communities and vulnerable populations.
  • Understanding of inclusive programming, such as gender equality, advocacy, clean energy, and financial management.
  • Experience in youth empowerment initiatives.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Rural Development, Natural Resource Management, or related fields.
  • Advanced degree in the above fields is an added advantage.

Preferred Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent community facilitation and advocacy skills.
  • Understanding of policy influence and strategic planning at local/national levels.
  • Strong communication skills in English and Swahili.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to World Vision’s values, mission, and vision.

Work Environment & Travel Requirements

  • Willingness to work in rural areas.
  • Occasional on-call duties (5%).
