The FORLAND project, a collaborative initiative between the governments of Finland and Tanzania, is focused on Forestry, Land Use, and Value Chain Development in Tanzania. Running from 2025 to 2029, this four-year project aims to support small woodlot owners, rural communities, and enterprises in managing and adding value to forest resources in regions such as Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma, and Lindi. The project also enhances community-based forest management and strengthens the value chain. FORLAND continues building on successful previous programs, ensuring long-term sustainability while supporting climate resilience, poverty alleviation, and job creation.

Position Overview:

FORLAND is currently recruiting ten (10) Project Drivers who will be responsible for providing transportation services across the project areas. Drivers will operate vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. The role also includes administrative tasks related to vehicle maintenance and reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate assigned vehicle safely and courteously, adhering to defensive driving practices.
  • Serve as the communication link between staff and clients.
  • Assist passengers, including those with disabilities, in and out of the vehicle, operating lifts, ramps, and securement devices as needed.
  • Read and interpret maps and directions to plan the most efficient routes.
  • Provide safety briefings to passengers before each trip.
  • Keep the assigned vehicle clean, both inside and outside.
  • Maintain accurate records, including trip sheets, fuel purchases, vehicle maintenance, incident and accident reports.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks on the vehicle and ensure it is fueled and ready for use.
  • Assist with office errands, such as purchasing or delivering items as required.
  • Coordinate major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management to avoid service interruptions.
  • Ensure all vehicle equipment (e.g., spare tire, jack, spanner) is in good condition.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Form IV Certificate.
  • Driver Training: Completed a Basic Driving Course from VETA or a recognized institution.
  • Driving License: Must have a Class C1 or E Driving License.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of driving experience with no history of accidents.
  • Skills: Good communication skills in both English and Swahili.
  • Health: Good eyesight and general health.
  • Responsibilities: Must be reliable and accountable for the safety of yourself and passengers.
