The FORLAND project is a four-year initiative between the governments of Finland and Tanzania, running from 2025 to 2029. Focused on forestry, land use, and value chain development, the project spans the Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma, and Lindi regions of Tanzania, areas known for their rich natural and plantation forest resources. The main headquarters is located at the Forest and Wood Industries Training Centre (FWITC) in Mafinga.

The FORLAND project aims to support small woodlot owners and rural communities in managing tree plantations and Miombo Village Land Forest Reserves through Community-Based Forest Management. Additionally, it strengthens the forestry value chain by assisting local communities, tree producers, and small enterprises in adding value to their products. The project builds on the success of earlier initiatives, such as the Participatory Plantation Forestry Programme (PFP 2) and Forest and Value Chain Development Programme (FORVAC), ensuring the sustainability of its efforts while promoting climate resilience, poverty alleviation, and job creation.
