Job Overview:
The National Coordinator for the Joint Programme on Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE) will manage and coordinate the programme’s operations, ensuring smooth implementation and collaboration with key stakeholders. The position will require strong leadership and coordination skills to drive the programme’s success, engaging with local government, implementing partners, and senior staff from participating agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordination:
    • Lead coordination efforts between participating organizations and external partners.
    • Organize and facilitate monthly meetings with technical working groups and multi-actor coordination platforms.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management and ensure timely responses to requests from the Global Coordination Unit.
  2. Programme Management & Implementation:
    • Ensure systems are in place for program planning and monitoring.
    • Oversee programme implementation according to the approved proposal and annual work plan.
    • Address challenges promptly with the technical working group and stakeholders.
    • Manage field visits with partners and government representatives as appropriate.
  3. Monitoring & Reporting:
    • Lead the implementation of the M&E system and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
    • Review agency reports and draft bi-annual reports for donors.
    • Oversee the mid-term evaluation and share lessons learned.
  4. Knowledge Management & Learning:
    • Develop and implement a knowledge management plan.
    • Promote the sharing of good practices and experiences among stakeholders.
    • Contribute to global learning processes, supporting cross-fertilization and South-South learning.
  5. Communications:
    • Develop a communications plan to enhance the visibility of the programme.
    • Contribute to the creation of communication materials.
  6. HR/Administration:
    • Supervise the JP RWEE MEAL Coordinator and facilitate capacity-building for partners.
    • Ensure the efficient signing of programme documents and fund transfer requests.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Advanced degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Sociology, or related fields; or a Bachelor’s degree with additional relevant experience and training.
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of experience in women’s economic empowerment and gender equality programming.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing or coordinating development programmes.
    • Experience in managing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
  • Skills:
    • Strong coordination, organizational, and communication skills.
    • Deep understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment in rural development.
    • Familiarity with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5).
    • Excellent drafting and reporting skills.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Knowledge of Swahili is an advantage.

Contract Duration:
This is a fixed-term contract for 7 months.
