As part of our commitment to excellence, we are looking for a Procurement and Logistics Officer to manage procurement activities, supplier relationships, and logistics operations to ensure smooth supply chain management.


Position Overview

The Procurement and Logistics Officer will play a crucial role in sourcing materials, negotiating supplier contracts, overseeing inventory, and coordinating logistics to support operational needs. This position requires strong analytical, negotiation, and coordination skills to optimize costs while maintaining high-quality standards and compliance with procurement regulations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement Management

  • Identify and evaluate suppliers for goods, services, and equipment.
  • Prepare and manage Request for Quotations (RFQs), Request for Proposals (RFPs), and purchase orders.
  • Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
  • Ensure all procurement activities align with company policies and Tanzanian procurement laws (PPRA) and international standards.

2. Inventory and Logistics Coordination

  • Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Oversee the transportation, storage, and distribution of goods.
  • Track shipments and resolve any delays or customs clearance issues.
  • Optimize logistics routes and minimize transportation costs.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and inventory records for reporting and audits.

3. Compliance and Reporting

  • Ensure strict adherence to Tanzania’s Public Procurement Act and company safety protocols.
  • Prepare procurement reports, cost analyses, and budget forecasts for management.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure procurement and logistics processes are transparent and efficient.

4. Cross-Departmental Collaboration

  • Work closely with operations, finance, and HR teams to align procurement with business needs.
  • Support contract management and tendering processes.
  • Assist in contingency planning for supply chain disruptions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in procurement or logistics, preferably in the mining, construction, or heavy machinery industries.

Certifications:

  • Certified Procurement and Supply Professional (CIPS) or an equivalent certification.
  • Additional certification in Logistics or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP) is a plus.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP), Microsoft Office Suite, and inventory management software.

Skills & Competencies

✔ Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
✔ Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
✔ Knowledge of local and international procurement regulations and customs procedures.
✔ Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
✔ Fluency in English and Swahili (additional languages are a plus).


Working Conditions

  • Office-based with occasional travel for site visits or supplier meetings.
  • May require extended hours during peak procurement periods.
