As part of our ongoing efforts to improve operations and meet growing demand, we are excited to offer an opportunity for a Planning Manager within our Manufacturing Department. This role is based in Dar es Salaam, and the successful candidate will report directly to the Manufacturing Director.
Job Overview
The Planning Manager will oversee and manage the development and execution of the plant’s capacity plans. This includes long-term, mid-term, and short-term production planning, ensuring that resources, timelines, and plans align with the company’s manufacturing goals. The role involves regular monitoring and review of production and capacity plans to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Capacity Planning & Monitoring
✔ Compile short-term, mid-term, and long-term capacity plans for the plant.
✔ Perform capacity checks against forecasted volumes and business needs.
✔ Incorporate maintenance shutdown schedules and stock build plans into capacity planning.
✔ Regularly review business plans and address any variances, ensuring realistic timelines and resource allocation.
✔ Track compliance with short-term (13 weeks) capacity plans.
2. Production & Operational Review
✔ Conduct weekly operational review meetings, covering key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales forecast accuracy, production to plan, and order fulfillment.
✔ Monitor and evaluate line utilization, raw material usage, and product quality goals.
✔ Identify short-term capacity issues or deviations and report to the Manufacturing Manager/Director.
✔ Adjust production plans as necessary to address deviations and ensure on-target performance.
✔ Incorporate production trends into future plans and track production progress with regular reports.
3. Raw Materials & Procurement Management
✔ Approve weekly and monthly production plans.
✔ Oversee raw materials planning and ensure materials are available as needed.
✔ Liaise with the Procurement team to ensure timely raw material deliveries.
✔ Maintain raw material stock levels to meet production requirements and ensure optimal days of cover.
4. System & Process Improvement
✔ Coordinate the Production Planning and Control Module.
✔ Provide training and coaching to super users, addressing any logged issues.
✔ Drive improvements in systems and processes to minimize risks, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
✔ Encourage full team participation in change processes and ensure SAP PP knowledge is up to date.
5. Leadership & Collaboration
✔ Lead and mentor the planning team, ensuring effective collaboration with other departments.
✔ Empower team members to solve problems and improve performance through coaching and skill development.
✔ Work closely with Manufacturing teams to ensure smooth execution of production and capacity plans.

Qualifications & Experience
🎓 Education & Background:
✔ Degree in Engineering, Production, Supply Chain, or a related field.
💡 Skills & Competencies:
✔ 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing planning, preferably in an FMCG environment.
✔ Strong leadership and team management experience.
✔ Excellent communication, analytical, and numerical skills.
✔ A high level of integrity and attention to detail.
