Role Overview – Packaging Engineer
As a Packaging Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing asset care, plant reliability, and process optimization. You will lead a team to ensure efficient equipment performance, adherence to safety standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance packaging operations.
This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and technical expertise in asset management strategies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Asset Management & Maintenance
✔ Lead the implementation of Coca-Cola Kwanza’s Asset Management Strategy within the packaging plant.
✔ Ensure compliance with asset care policies and strategies to improve operational efficiency.
✔ Develop and oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
✔ Manage supplier partnerships (OEM SPP) and service agreements for optimal equipment performance.
✔ Support the execution of planned maintenance schedules and predictive maintenance techniques.
2. Plant Reliability & Process Improvement
✔ Oversee packaging plant reliability and uptime, ensuring all equipment operates at optimal levels.
✔ Provide engineering support and technical problem-solving for production teams.
✔ Monitor plant performance, analyze failure trends, and implement corrective actions.
✔ Evaluate and sign off on plant modifications and equipment upgrades.
✔ Lead process optimization initiatives to enhance packaging efficiency and sustainability.
3. Team Leadership & Development
✔ Develop and communicate clear team goals, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
✔ Conduct performance reviews, one-on-one coaching sessions, and team development programs.
✔ Identify skills gaps and implement training plans to build technical competencies.
✔ Foster a high-performance work culture through continuous feedback and mentorship.
4. Safety & Compliance
✔ Ensure strict adherence to occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
✔ Implement Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) safety policies, including OSH Act and housekeeping (5S).
✔ Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with statutory and company regulations.
✔ Lead a culture of safety and proactive hazard identification within the engineering team.

Qualifications & Skills
🎓 Education & Experience:
✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
✔ Minimum of 8 years of technical and leadership experience in an FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) environment.
✔ Certified Artisan Qualification is an added advantage.
