Job Summary

MCC Tanzania is looking for a highly skilled OPEX Lead to drive operational excellence by managing manufacturing data integrity, ensuring safety compliance, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role is instrumental in optimizing production processes, enhancing efficiency, and supporting strategic initiatives to maximize plant performance.

As the OPEX Lead, you will be responsible for safety enforcement, data analysis, process optimization, and team leadership to ensure smooth and effective operations.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

1. Safety Leadership

Act as the site safety champion, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
Promote a safety-first culture by instilling responsibility and awareness among employees.
Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards and environmental regulations.
Oversee proper use of equipment and enforce strict housekeeping policies.
Personally uphold and ensure team adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.

2. Quality Assurance

Drive quality-focused production by ensuring built-in quality, not just inspection-based quality.
Support quality improvement initiatives and corrective actions to maintain high standards.
Ensure strict compliance with customer specifications, handling procedures, and product safety standards.
Maintain data integrity and documentation accuracy in all quality-related processes.

3. Operations & Process Optimization

Enhance productivity by analyzing manufacturing data to identify efficiency gaps.
Ensure data accuracy in production reports and manage data integration in SAGE ERP systems.
Utilize collected data for performance analysis, minimizing machine downtime and improving availability.
Develop and implement best practice documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Monitor and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department.
Establish and communicate annual department goals, tracking monthly performance against targets.
Support GMP implementation and ensure sustainable manufacturing practices.
Promote a customer-centric mindset, ensuring optimal equipment run time and efficiency.

4. Cost Optimization & Continuous Improvement

Drive cost-saving initiatives using Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and other lean manufacturing techniques.
Participate in cross-functional teams to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Manage department capacity and capability, making data-driven decisions to optimize profitability.
Continuously develop technical knowledge to improve processes and address operational challenges.
Compile and present monthly reports showcasing continuous improvements and performance metrics.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Operations, Business Management, or related discipline).
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operations or process improvement role.
Strong expertise in manufacturing processes, data analysis, and ERP systems (e.g., SAGE ERP).
Proficiency in MS Office and other analytical tools.
Demonstrated ability to lead safety initiatives and ensure regulatory compliance.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related process improvement methodologies is an advantage.
