Working closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, as well as their International Federation, we ensure a well-coordinated and effective response to humanitarian crises. Job Title: Networking Field Officer

📍 Location: Tanzania (Open to Tanzanian Nationals and Residents with a Work Permit)
📅 Application Deadline: 28th March 2025
📜 Contract Type: 1-Year Fixed Term (Renewable based on Budget and Performance)

Your Role

As a Networking Field Officer, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and expanding a network of key local and regional stakeholders—including Muslim scholars, religious academics, and community leaders. Your role is essential in strengthening the ICRC’s engagement with these groups and ensuring access to critical humanitarian networks.

You will lead efforts to map, analyze, and establish relationships with relevant stakeholders. Additionally, you will support the team by gathering contextual insights, organizing networking events, and contributing to security-related assessments.


Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Mapping & Relationship Building

  • Identify, engage, and maintain a strong network of influential religious leaders, scholars, and community figures in Tanzania and the broader East African region.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Networking Manager to update and consolidate stakeholder mappings.
  • Develop and implement a strategic networking plan aligned with ICRC’s operational goals in Tanzania.

Event Coordination & Knowledge Sharing

  • Organize seminars, roundtables, and workshops tailored for religious groups and community leaders.
  • Manage a small budget for hosting events and ensure effective resource utilization.
  • Act as a focal point for humanitarian networking, providing insights to both local and international ICRC staff.

Analysis & Reporting

  • Gather and analyze information on humanitarian, security, and socio-political developments.
  • Prepare detailed reports, meeting minutes, and project proposals to inform institutional decision-making.
  • Provide written and verbal context briefings to the Head of Mission and regional networking team.

Security Awareness & Risk Assessment

  • Monitor local security dynamics and contribute to environmental risk analysis.
  • Assist in security-related documentation and processes as guided by the Head of Mission.

What We’re Looking For

Education & Experience

  • A university degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field.
  • 4-6 years of professional experience in networking, stakeholder engagement, or humanitarian work.

Skills & Language Proficiency

  • Fluent in Swahili and English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of Arabic is an added advantage.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to maintain a diverse professional network.
  • Experience engaging with conservative Muslim communities and understanding their social dynamics.
  • In-depth knowledge of Tanzania’s cultural, political, and social landscape.
