Job Summary
We are looking for a passionate and visionary National Director to lead SOS Children’s Villages in Tanzania and Zanzibar. This role is crucial in driving our mission forward by ensuring effective leadership, strategic planning, financial sustainability, and strong partnerships.
As the National Director, you will oversee the organization’s overall operations, working closely with the Board of Directors, the International Director Region (IDR), the CVI Representative, and other key stakeholders. Your leadership will shape the future of the organization, ensuring that our programs have a lasting impact on children and communities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Develop and implement strategies that align with SOS CVI’s vision and mission.
- Ensure compliance with governance policies and statutory regulations.
- Monitor and report on organizational performance, making data-driven decisions.
- Uphold ethical standards and organizational values, fostering a culture of integrity.
2. Financial Sustainability & Fund Development
- Create and execute effective fundraising strategies to ensure long-term financial stability.
- Manage financial resources efficiently, ensuring cost control and accountability.
- Oversee the implementation of innovative revenue-generating initiatives.
3. Marketing & Brand Awareness
- Lead marketing, branding, and communication efforts to strengthen SOS CVI’s visibility.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, donors, and partners.
- Promote the organization’s impact through compelling storytelling and outreach campaigns.
4. Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and nurture partnerships with government bodies, donors, and NGOs.
- Represent SOS CVI at local, national, and international forums.
- Advocate for child rights and influence policies that benefit vulnerable children.
5. People Management & Organizational Development
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team.
- Foster a positive workplace culture that encourages growth and collaboration.
- Ensure staff development through training, coaching, and career progression opportunities.
6. Child Safeguarding & Protection
- Enforce and oversee the implementation of SOS CVI’s Child Protection Policy.
- Ensure all programs comply with child safeguarding standards.
- Take immediate action on any child safety concerns.

Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Education, or Social Sciences is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 years in a National Director, CEO, or Managing Director role.
- Strong knowledge of child rights, child development, family support programs, and advocacy.
- Excellent strategic thinking, leadership, and financial management skills.
- Fluent in English and Swahili (written and spoken).
- A valid driver’s license.
