Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety by attending safety meetings, following protocols, wearing PPE, and reporting incidents.
• Operate trucks and heavy equipment safely, including transporting waste in surface and underground operations.
• Conduct pre-start checks, refuel, and clean equipment before and after use.
• Assist with charge-up activities, re-entry after blasting, and mine service extensions when required.
• Work closely with technical and supervisory staff on safety and quality improvement initiatives.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and maintain compliance with mine safety regulations.
• Participate in pre-start, shift, and safety meetings to ensure smooth operations.
• Plan trips carefully, ensuring all necessary tools and equipment are onboard before departure.
• Report any equipment faults or maintenance issues to the relevant team.
• Maintain the vehicle’s condition to meet company standards.
• Keep a logbook of trips, fuel consumption, and equipment usage.
• Operate and maintain various heavy machinery, including backhoes, service trucks, and tractors.
• Maneuver machinery in confined areas and perform trenching, clearing, and excavation work.
• Conduct routine equipment checks, replenish fluids, and perform basic maintenance.

Qualifications & Requirements

✔ Education: Secondary School Certificate.
✔ Certification: VETA Driving Certificate.
✔ Valid Tanzanian Driving License (Class B, C, D, and E).
✔ Manual Transmission Skills: Must be able to drive stick shift/manual vehicles.
✔ Mining Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of mining regulations and best practices.

Experience & Skills

✅ 2-3 years of experience as a Mobile Equipment Operator in the mining industry.
✅ Skilled in operating backhoes, service trucks, and tractors.
✅ Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
✅ Strong communication skills and professionalism when interacting with colleagues.
✅ Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining high performance.
✅ Solid understanding of strategic planning, safety protocols, and hazard identification.
✅ Adaptable to changing work conditions and committed to continuous improvement.
