Key Responsibilities

• Maintain strict adherence to safety standards, including attending safety courses, wearing proper protective equipment (PPE), and following all health and environmental policies.
• Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs efficiently and safely, ensuring equipment operates at peak performance.
• Follow all maintenance procedures to prevent further damage to equipment, components, and systems.
• Conduct pre-start checks, equipment isolation, and inspections for compliance with work-at-height and confined space safety regulations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults to minimize unplanned equipment downtime.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules are met and that all servicing is conducted as required.
• Upgrade, modify, and repair mobile and plant equipment as needed.
• Communicate with the Maintenance Supervisor and other stakeholders to keep them updated on equipment availability and status.
• Identify, select, and inspect mechanical tools and equipment to ensure they meet job requirements.
• Participate in ongoing training to develop new skills and enhance career growth.

Qualifications & Experience

• Trade Certification in Mechanics (Full Technician’s Certificate or VETA Grade One).
• Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations and best practices.
• Awareness of Mines Health & Safety Act.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical operations, preferably in mining.
• Hands-on experience working with Sandvik and Caterpillar machines is a plus.
• Demonstrated expertise in servicing and rebuilding mining mobile equipment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with diverse teams.
• Experience in both open-pit and underground mining is essential.
