Job Opportunity: Materials Engineer at TANROADS (March 2025)
The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for maintaining and developing the trunk and regional road networks across Tanzania Mainland. The agency also oversees axle load control operations through weighbridge scales.
TANROADS Coast, on behalf of the Chief Executive, is seeking qualified and competent Tanzanians to join its team for two ongoing road infrastructure projects:
- Upgrading of Utete – Nyamwage Road (33.7km) to Bitumen Standard
- Contract No: TRD/HQ/1036/2022/23
- Construction of Mramre Bridge (81m) and Approach Roads (3.0km) to Bitumen Standard
To support these projects, TANROADS is looking to hire a Materials Engineer on a specified contract basis.
Position: Materials Engineer (1 Post)
Job Responsibilities:
The Materials Engineer will be responsible for:
- Conducting and supervising material investigations.
- Ensuring optimal design and construction standards for pavement structures.
- Overseeing quality control in roadwork materials and construction.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Must be a registered Professional Civil Engineer with a degree in Civil Engineering or Pavement/Materials Engineering.
- At least five (5) years of experience in pavement materials related to road construction.
- Must have participated in at least two (2) road projects of similar scale and complexity.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory.
Terms of Employment:
- Contract Duration: One (1) year (specific to the project).
