Job Overview

Exim Bank is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to join our team as a Manager, General Insurance. This role plays a crucial part in developing and executing sales and underwriting strategies for insurance products in alignment with our Bancassurance objectives. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional insurance services, ensuring timely handling of clients’ insurance-related matters, and providing expert advice to the team. This position is key in driving business growth, maintaining profitable operations, and achieving the business budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage both Corporate (CIB) and Retail insurance portfolios, ensuring new acquisitions and renewals meet set targets.
• Identify, develop, and maintain business relationships by engaging potential clients and scheduling meetings.
• Negotiate insurance terms with insurers and coordinate reinsurance arrangements by preparing competitive quotes and proposals.
• Design and develop innovative General Insurance products tailored to market needs.
• Assist clients with their general insurance requirements, including policy negotiation and placement.
• Strengthen relationships between Bancassurance, Exim Bank Relationship Managers, and branches.
• Review and validate all insurance proposals, inquiries, and quotations to ensure compliance.
• Prepare analytical business reports and provide strategic recommendations to the Head of Bancassurance.
• Develop and execute sales strategies for all general insurance products.
• Oversee underwriting and claims procedures, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
• Supervise insurance personnel across all bank branches.
• Proactively identify and resolve issues related to general insurance products.
• Manage customer relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
• Conduct training sessions on General Insurance products for bank staff and other stakeholders.
• Oversee risk management processes related to general insurance offerings.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in operations, underwriting, and claims management.
• Strong knowledge of insurance products, industry regulations, and business performance strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and team management skills.
• Ability to understand customer segmentation and needs, with in-depth knowledge of distribution channel strategies.
• Proven experience in coaching, leading, and supervising teams effectively.
• Exceptional communication (verbal & written) and negotiation abilities.
• High ethical standards and professional integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Insurance, Banking, Risk Management, Law, Actuarial Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum professional certification in insurance (CoP).
• ACII certification is an added advantage.
• Sworn declaration of good character and solvency.
• Attested declaration confirming solvency and absence of criminal convictions.
