Job Overview
The Maintenance Controller will be responsible for overseeing the reliability and asset care of our utilities equipment, ensuring optimal plant performance and reducing downtime. This position reports directly to the Unit Manager – Packaging and plays a critical role in maintenance planning, plant optimization, and leading the maintenance team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Asset Care & Maintenance Planning
✔ Develop and execute comprehensive asset care plans for utilities equipment.
✔ Identify and address training needs within the maintenance team.
✔ Implement and manage predictive maintenance strategies and condition monitoring programs.
✔ Oversee budgeting and cost control for spare parts and maintenance expenses.
2. Plant Reliability & Performance Optimization
✔ Ensure maximum equipment uptime by managing scheduled and extended maintenance activities.
✔ Lead troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts to enhance plant efficiency.
✔ Optimize water and energy consumption to drive sustainability improvements.
✔ Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and tools to prevent unplanned downtime.
✔ Manage preventive maintenance schedules to ensure continuous plant reliability.
3. Continuous Improvement & Innovation
✔ Evaluate new equipment and recommend enhancements or upgrades to improve performance.
✔ Investigate recurring failures and implement solutions to prevent breakdowns.
✔ Collaborate with production teams to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
✔ Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team through goal-setting and performance tracking.
4. Team Leadership & Training
✔ Build and lead a high-performance maintenance team through effective mentorship and coaching.
✔ Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing technical training to enhance skills.
✔ Ensure multi-skilling within the team for flexibility in handling various maintenance tasks.
✔ Oversee outsourced maintenance services, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and safety standards.
5. Safety & Compliance
✔ Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
✔ Oversee mandatory maintenance checks and ensure they are completed and documented on time.
✔ Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment.
✔ Promote housekeeping and 5S principles to ensure an organized, efficient workspace.

Qualifications & Experience
🎓 Education & Background:
✔ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
✔ At least 5 years of experience in maintenance of packaging machinery in a manufacturing setting.
💡 Skills & Competencies:
✔ Strong knowledge of asset care, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance techniques.
✔ Experience in health, safety, and environmental compliance (e.g., NOSA, KORE, or similar standards).
✔ Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
✔ Proven experience in team leadership, management, and training.
✔ Excellent organizational and budgeting skills.
