Logistics Planner – Kilombero Sugar Company Limited (March 2025)

Job Overview

Kilombero Sugar Company Limited is seeking a Logistics Planner to support the implementation of best practices and operational standards for Outbound Logistics. The ideal candidate will play a key role in optimizing logistics operations across the country, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and seamless transportation of goods.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement Kilombero Logistics Ways by embedding best practices, policies, processes, tools, and technologies.
• Analyze data from SAP S4 and other sources (e.g., Sales Orders, Transfer Orders, Stock in Transit) to drive logistics planning.
• Plan and optimize transport and logistics systems to ensure long-term efficiency and continuity.
• Effectively utilize logistics assets, including equipment, materials, and personnel, for efficient outbound logistics execution.
• Collaborate with the Warehouse Manager and Customer Service Centre to determine daily and weekly delivery volumes from the mill to various destinations (depots, inland container depots, or directly to customers).
• Plan and manage daily shipments based on stock-keeping units (SKU) and delivery locations.
• Adjust logistics plans dynamically based on real-time constraints to achieve targets.
• Create and manage transfer orders in the system to facilitate smooth stock movements from the mill to distribution centers.
• Source and coordinate with transport service providers, updating relevant systems with transporter details.
• Track and monitor all shipments, ensuring timely deliveries and flagging overdue vehicles.
• Confirm storage availability at receiving sites and coordinate with clearing and transport teams for smooth execution.
• Generate and manage Purchase Requests (PRs) for transportation lanes, shipping lines, road freight, and border clearing processes.
• Work closely with warehouses to ensure sugar availability and maintain quality standards.
• Conduct continuous improvement and benchmarking analyses to optimize logistics value.
• Adhere to Kilombero’s policies and procedures, including SHERQ, Competition Law, and Anti-Bribery & Corruption (ABC) regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Logistics or Transport Management.
• Experience: At least 3 years in transport and logistics within an FMCG environment, including logistics planning, routing, scheduling, and reverse logistics.
• Skills:
  • Strong planning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency in Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Customer-centric approach with a focus on cost efficiency.
• Additional Advantage:
  • Knowledge of Sales & Distribution Systems.
  • Experience in exports planning, shipping, clearing, and forwarding.
