Role Overview

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for conducting quality checks and analyses on raw materials used in beer production. Your role is critical in ensuring that all products meet AB InBev’s stringent quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

1. Specialist Analysis

  • Perform standard and advanced quality analyses as required.
  • Accurately record and report analysis results in the appropriate systems.
  • Analyze results to identify potential issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist the production team in executing quality assessments when necessary.
  • Calibrate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Operate the weighbridge and oversee malt truck dispatching.

2. Quality Auditing

  • Conduct quality audits and document findings appropriately.
  • Assess and refine quality analysis procedures used by production teams.
  • Audit calibration processes to ensure compliance with internal and global standards.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions based on audit results.

3. Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement

  • Provide technical support and guidance to production teams.
  • Assist in mentoring and training production staff on quality standards and problem-solving techniques.

4. Training & Development

  • Support ongoing training initiatives to enhance the skills of production teams.
  • Provide coaching on proper analytical techniques and best practices in laboratory work.

5. Process Control & Compliance

  • Follow standardized sampling methods to maintain sample integrity.
  • Ensure proper handling, preparation, and dispatching of samples.
  • Maintain accurate records of all analyses and report any deviations.
  • Comply with VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) standards.

6. Equipment & Safety Compliance

  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment as per guidelines.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies, including PPE requirements.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous chemicals.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Minimum National Diploma in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Food Science.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (BTech) or equivalent is an advantage.

Experience

  • 1-3 years of laboratory experience.
  • Strong understanding of process control in a malting production environment.
  • Familiarity with VPO principles and best practices.

Training & Skills

  • Training Duration: 2-6 months (on-the-job training, Academy Basic Process Artisan Training, and ATO program).
  • Key Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Leadership and teamwork abilities.
    • Proficiency in computer applications.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proactive and detail-oriented mindset.
