Position: Investment Officer

Position Count: 1

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the investment portfolio to ensure optimal asset diversification, adequate liquidity, and minimal risk exposure. Regularly assess and adjust the portfolio to align with the organization’s objectives and current market conditions.
  • Investment Analysis & Research: Conduct thorough research on market trends, economic indicators, and industry developments. Identify and present potential investment opportunities. Prepare and deliver monthly reports on market insights to guide decision-making.
  • Policy & Guidelines Development: Create and update comprehensive investment management policies. Collaborate with the Investment Committee to recommend and submit guidelines for approval. Ensure all investments comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies.
  • Innovative Development: Work with internal teams to propose new products and services that address client needs, adapt to market trends, and provide a competitive edge.
  • Results-Oriented Strategy: Focus on delivering measurable financial results by optimizing investment strategies. Review investment portfolios, suggest changes for higher yields, and present analyses that consider costs (e.g., breaking/redemption fees) and expected benefits to make informed decisions.
  • Reporting & Analytics: Prepare detailed reports on fund performance, investment efficiency, and regulatory compliance for senior management and the Board. Collaborate to ensure timely payments of CMSA levies, accurate delivery of monthly and quarterly reports to CMSA, and adherence to TIRA regulations regarding pension investments.
  • Liaison with Investment Advisors: Act as the main point of contact for external investment advisors, asset managers, and fund managers (e.g., Old Mutual). Facilitate communication to ensure alignment on investment strategies, monitor performance, and address concerns or opportunities for performance optimization.

Candidate Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in investment portfolio management, preferably in the pension or financial services industry.
  • Proven expertise in conducting market research, investment analysis, and managing diverse investment portfolios.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, Securities Industry Certification Course (SICC) from the Capital Market Securities Authority (CMSA), or Financial Modelling and Valuation Analyst (FMVA).
