As part of its expansion, Aga Khan Mwanza Hospital is looking for a qualified and experienced Internal Medicine Specialist to join its team and provide exceptional care to patients.


Position Overview

The Internal Medicine Specialist will be responsible for diagnosing and treating complex medical conditions, focusing on adult patients with internal organ system disorders. The role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary medical team to ensure comprehensive patient care. The specialist will utilize advanced medical techniques and technology to provide the highest level of treatment and management.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Diagnosis

  • Evaluate patients, discuss symptoms, and conduct comprehensive medical assessments.
  • Analyze medical records and test results to diagnose internal medicine conditions.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for chronic and acute illnesses.

Treatment & Management

  • Prescribe and administer medications, therapies, and specialized medical care.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide long-term care and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular conditions.
  • Offer preventive healthcare advice, including lifestyle modifications to enhance patient well-being.

Collaboration & Training

  • Work closely with other specialists, nurses, and support staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Refer patients to other medical experts when necessary.
  • Train and mentor junior doctors, helping them develop advanced clinical skills and confidence in patient management.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and treatment reports.
  • Report contagious and notifiable diseases to the appropriate health authorities.
  • Ensure all healthcare services meet Safe Care Standards to uphold quality and safety in patient care.

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Certification

  • Master’s degree in Internal Medicine (or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
  • Full medical registration with relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Valid practicing license to work as an Internal Medicine Specialist.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in a similar role.
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and managing complex internal medicine cases.
  • Experience working in a hospital setting with a multidisciplinary team.
