Job Overview
Position: Individual Contractor – Cost Data Collection
Number of Positions: 1
Location: Arusha & Tabora, Tanzania
As an Individual Contractor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Malezi III Project, a key initiative under EGPAF. Your primary responsibility will be cost data collection, including conducting focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and reviewing financial documents. Working closely with the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Project Team, the Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator, the Research and Evaluation Team, and the Senior Manager for Early Childhood Development, you will contribute to research efforts aimed at improving early childhood development (ECD) services in Tanzania.
This role offers a unique opportunity to strengthen EGPAF’s position as a leader in ECD research and policy implementation while making a meaningful impact on children, adolescents, and families.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Document Review: Analyze financial records and gather cost-related data through interviews with Local Government Authorities (LGAs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
- Costing Tool Completion: Accurately input financial data into an Excel-based costing tool following financial reviews and interviews.

Qualifications & Experience
Education
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Health Economics (A Master’s degree is a strong advantage).
Experience
- Proven experience in cost data collection, particularly through financial record reviews at local government authorities (LGAs) or civil society organizations (CSOs) in Tanzania.
- Background in research, with a focus on cost evaluation, health financing, and policy evaluation (preferred).
Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry and analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team-oriented environment.
Knowledge & Attributes
- Understanding of data privacy and confidentiality protocols.
- High ethical standards with a commitment to integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to engage with diverse populations in a respectful and empathetic manner.
- Adaptability to varying field conditions and environments.
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to travel to different research sites and work beyond regular hours when necessary.
- Familiarity with costing tools.
- Fluency in both Kiswahili and English.
