About the Organization

Founded in 2004, the Financial Sector Deepening Tanzania (FSDT) is a donor-funded organization that works to enhance the financial sector and drive poverty reduction in Tanzania. Through offering inclusive financial solutions, FSDT aims to improve the lives, wellbeing, and empowerment of underserved Tanzanians. The organization’s efforts focus on women and youth, who are the most financially excluded groups in the country.

Position Overview

Job Title: HR & Administration Intern
Department: Finance & Operations
Reports to: Head of Finance & Operations

Key Responsibilities

As an HR & Administration Intern, your key responsibilities will include:

Human Resources Support:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Assist with posting job vacancies, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting initial screenings. Facilitate onboarding by preparing contracts, gathering required documents, and hosting orientation sessions.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance: Support employees and managers with company policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with labor laws and provide necessary documentation for employee relations matters.
  • Records & Data Management: Maintain and update employee records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy. Manage HR databases and support audits and reporting.
  • Training & Development: Coordinate employee training programs, track progress, and ensure compliance with mandatory training.
  • Payroll & Benefits Administration: Process payroll documentation, ensuring accuracy in timesheets, leave balances, and deductions. Assist with benefits administration.
  • HR Projects & Support: Help with HR initiatives to improve employee engagement and operational efficiency. Provide general administrative support to the HR team.
  • Team Meetings Coordination: Support with meeting minutes, records, and follow-up documentation.

Program Administration Support:

  • Contract & Vendor Management: Manage vendor contracts, ensuring timely renewals and service agreement compliance. Assist with vendor selection and contract negotiations.
  • Meetings & Events Management: Organize logistics for program meetings and events, including booking venues, arranging equipment, and setting up virtual meetings. Support in preparing agendas, documents, and minutes.
  • Administrative Support: Ensure all documentation complies with statutory requirements and assist with administrative duties as needed.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in HR or administration, with a generalist role preferred.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of labor laws, HR best practices, and contract management.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. Quick to adapt and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
