As we expand our Usa River Campus to serve over 1,000 students by January 2025, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to head our Early Childhood Education (ECE) department.
Role Overview
The Head of ECE will be responsible for leading the Daycare, KG 1, and KG 2 programs, ensuring students’ academic and developmental progress. This role involves:
- Overseeing the ECE curriculum implementation
- Managing teachers and grade leads
- Tracking student performance and development
- Strengthening parent engagement
- Ensuring a positive and stimulating learning environment
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and skilled in leadership, curriculum development, and teacher training.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Development
- Conduct performance evaluations for ECE teachers, providing feedback and professional development support.
- Collaborate with the Head Teacher to create and execute a teacher training and development plan.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and engaging culture within the ECE teaching team.
- Organize and lead cultural activities and classroom rituals for ECE students.
- Conduct regular classroom observations to ensure teaching quality and adherence to learning goals.
2. Student Development & Academic Performance
- Support the Head Teacher in developing an annual student experience plan that includes academic, social, and emotional development.
- Set academic targets and monitor student progress using data-driven approaches.
- Implement intervention programs for struggling students.
- Organize co-curricular activities, such as student clubs, sports, and leadership programs.
- Ensure child protection policies and positive behavior management strategies are effectively implemented.
3. School Operations & Sustainability
- Work with the Head Teacher to manage daily academic operations, including:
- Teaching schedules
- Assessment timelines
- Learning resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and child protection policies for ECE students.
4. Parent & Community Engagement
- Strengthen home-school relationships by organizing regular parent-teacher meetings.
- Ensure consistent communication with parents regarding student progress and school events.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance student learning experiences.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education (specializing in Early Childhood Education or related field), recognized by the Tanzanian government.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role (e.g., Grade Coordinator, Head of Department).
- Strong background in curriculum development and teacher training.
- Experience in student-centered learning and early childhood assessment strategies.
- Leadership & Communication Skills:
- Ability to motivate and guide teachers toward achieving academic excellence.
- Strong interpersonal skills for engaging parents, staff, and stakeholders.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Kiswahili.
