Job Overview
As a General Cargo Foreman, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the handling of general cargo, bulk, and RoRo terminal operations. You will ensure smooth coordination between land and sea transport, maximize efficiency, and uphold the highest safety and operational standards.
This role requires strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and expertise in port terminal activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operations & Process Optimization
✔ Lead, motivate, and manage terminal personnel.
✔ Oversee the smooth transfer of cargo between sea and land transport.
✔ Monitor vessel operations and ensure compliance with berthing schedules.
✔ Supervise quay activities to optimize the use of quay equipment.
✔ Ensure cargo stowage, delivery, and transport align with operational plans.
✔ Coordinate ship and terminal operations, ensuring efficient cargo handling.
2. Safety & Compliance
✔ Ensure all safety regulations are strictly followed.
✔ Monitor crane positioning during berthing, sailing, and extreme weather conditions.
✔ Confirm vessel position aligns with the berth plan.
✔ Ensure vessel inspection checklists are completed before operations begin.
✔ Supervise the handling of heavy lift and oversized cargo.
✔ Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent accidents.
3. Performance Monitoring & Reporting
✔ Track and analyze productivity metrics to improve efficiency.
✔ Record cargo movement data and ensure accurate documentation.
✔ Monitor vessel productivity and report any operational delays.
✔ Generate and submit reports on ship operations, damages, and claims.
✔ Maintain communication with vessel chief officers, pilots, and trucking companies.
4. Team Leadership & Development
✔ Train and evaluate team members to enhance their skills.
✔ Set clear performance goals and provide constructive feedback.
✔ Ensure labor supply aligns with operational demands.
✔ Maintain proper staff scheduling and presence tracking.

📌 Zero accidents/damages during operations.
📌 Efficient cargo flow and minimal truck turnaround times.
📌 Optimal use of quay equipment to maximize productivity.
📌 Adherence to safety and operational procedures.
📌 Effective traffic control within the cargo storage areas.

Qualifications & Skills
✅ Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Rigging & Lifting Certification (preferred).
✅ Experience & Skills:
- 4-6 years of experience in terminal operations.
- Strong understanding of terminal activities & safety procedures.
- Experience with rigging, lifting, and cargo handling principles.
- Leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams.
- Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
