Role Summary

The Finance Technical Assistant will support the day-to-day financial functions within NRC, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and best financial practices. The role involves managing payments, maintaining financial records, and ensuring timely transactions.


Key Responsibilities

General Duties

✔ Ensure compliance with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
✔ Assist in the implementation of financial activities as per the plan of action.
✔ Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
✔ Ensure accurate filing and organisation of all financial documents.
✔ Promote anti-corruption, transparency, and cost-efficiency in all financial processes.
✔ Track cash advances and ensure value for money.
✔ Verify vouchers and supporting documents before payment processing.
✔ Ensure timely payments to staff, suppliers, and contractors.
✔ Review payment requests for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.

Specific Responsibilities

✔ Process all payments, including field disbursements, after approval.
✔ Provide cash advances to staff as required.
✔ Record all cash movements and conduct daily/weekly/monthly cash counts.
✔ Assemble financial data for input into the accounting system.
✔ Prepare financial vouchers and ensure appropriate signatories.
✔ Maintain accurate financial and accounting records.
✔ Assist in the preparation of monthly closing reports.
✔ Perform other tasks as assigned by the Finance Coordinator.

Internal: Education, Shelter, WASH, Logistics, HR/Admin teams
External: Banks, UN agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, government bodies
Budgets Managed: All NRC Tanzania budgets
Systems Used: Agresso, NRC Workplace, Intranet

Qualifications & Skills

Professional Competencies

University degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
✔ Experience as a Finance Officer or Assistant in a humanitarian or INGO setting.
✔ Strong understanding of financial procedures and compliance.
Fluency in English (spoken and written).
✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of Kirundi is an advantage.
✔ Commitment to NRC’s Code of Conduct.
