Finance Officer – Job Description

About the Role

At Mott MacDonald Tanzania we are looking for a Finance Officer to join our working team especially in the Programme Management Team in Dodoma, Tanzania. As sellected candidate you will be required to play a key role in managing financial operations efficiently. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Administrative Officers and Technical Team. You will also be required to ensure  maintainance of financial records, processing payments, managing cash flow and reconciling accounts

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Financial Planning and Reporting

  • As sellected candidate you will be required to support the Finance Manager in preparing budget forecasts
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to provide assistance in costing activities.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting so that to support in decision making.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to perform other tasks as can be assigned by Supervisor

2. Cash and Payment Management

  • As sellected candidate you will be required to assist in preparing bank reconciliation statements and ensurei g they are reviewed and submitted on time.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to handle bank transactions, including cheque deposits for vendors.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to manage petty cash and  performing regular reconciliations.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to record cash transactions in financial systems and ensuring timely submission to the UK head office.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to support in the processing of cash payments by ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.

3. Accounts Payable and Compliance

  • As sellected candidate you will be required to assist in compiling a vendor database and organizing payment vouchers.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to prepare payment vouchers and cheques by ensuring timely invoice settlement.
  • As sellected candidate you will be required to verify that all payment vouchers have the necessary approvals.

Candidate Profile

Required Skills and Experience

  • Candidate with strong numeracy and accounting skills.
  • Experience working with international organizations, preferably in development or humanitarian sectors.
  • Knowledge of budget management and financial planning.
  • Good in using Microsoft Office and other financial software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze financial data and produce accurate reports.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related.
  • Working xperience in finance or accounting role.
