Job Overview:

The Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) is looking for three (3) qualified Engineer II (Plant) professionals to join our team. If you have a background in Mechanical Engineering and a passion for workplace safety, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to plant safety standards and compliance in various industries.


Key Responsibilities:

As an Engineer II (Plant), you will be responsible for ensuring workplace safety in plant environments by conducting inspections, risk assessments, and providing technical guidance. Your duties will include:

Safety Inspections & Compliance

  • Conducting general workplace safety inspections to assess compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Performing specific plant safety inspections and recommending corrective actions.
  • Reviewing and approving plant design plans and workplace safety documents to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conducting risk assessments and implementing safety programs for workers and management.

Incident Investigation & Risk Management

  • Investigating workplace accidents, analyzing causes, and recommending preventive measures.
  • Evaluating and controlling mechanical hazards in the workplace.
  • Conducting follow-up inspections to ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Training & Consultancy Services

  • Preparing safety manuals and educational materials on plant safety.
  • Providing consultancy services on plant safety regulations and best practices.
  • Participating in policy formulation related to plant safety, including strategic planning.

Research & Legal Compliance

  • Conducting plant surveys and research to enhance safety standards.
  • Reviewing current occupational safety and health literature to stay updated on best practices.
  • Assisting in court proceedings related to plant safety matters.

Engineering & Maintenance Support

  • Assisting in civil, engineering, and building works related to plant safety.
  • Undertaking repairs, maintenance, and modifications of buildings and equipment.
  • Preparing technical reports, sketches, and schedules for construction and maintenance projects.
  • Supervising junior staff in related tasks.

Qualifications & Experience:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Professional Registration: Must be registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
  • Skills Required:
    • Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations and plant safety standards.
    • Ability to analyze risks, conduct safety assessments, and recommend control measures.
    • Proficiency in engineering design review and technical reporting.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
