Job Overview

Are you a passionate Civil Engineer looking for an opportunity to make workplaces safer? The Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) is seeking five (5) Engineer II (Building and Construction) professionals to join our team. In this role, you will conduct workplace inspections, assess risks, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and contribute to creating safer working environments in the building and construction sector.


Key Responsibilities

As an Engineer II (Building and Construction), your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting general workplace inspections to assess compliance with occupational safety and health standards.
  • Carrying out specialized building and construction safety inspections and recommending corrective measures.
  • Performing risk assessments to identify potential hazards and prevent accidents.
  • Operating and maintaining measuring equipment for safety evaluations.
  • Preparing and submitting detailed inspection reports in a timely manner.
  • Planning and implementing safety programs for both workers and management in the construction industry.
  • Keeping accurate records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken.
  • Providing consultation services on building and construction safety practices.
  • Investigating workplace accidents, analyzing causes, and proposing preventive measures.
  • Contributing to surveys and research related to occupational safety and health.
  • Assisting in developing strategic plans, business plans, and policies related to building and construction safety.
  • Preparing informative articles and manuals on construction safety best practices.
  • Assisting the Public Relations Office in delivering safety awareness information to media, government agencies, and the public.
  • Interpreting data collected from workplace investigations and recommending safety improvements.
  • Conducting follow-up inspections to ensure recommended safety measures are properly implemented.
  • Reviewing and approving building and construction plans to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assessing and evaluating workplace documents related to safety compliance.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and controlling building and construction hazards.
  • Reviewing the latest occupational safety and health literature to stay updated with best practices.
  • Participating in court proceedings related to construction safety cases when required.
  • Performing any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Registration as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
